Which personality traits did you choose to respond to and apply the typeface?
-Sweet -Intelligent - Enthusiastic - Passionate - Chatty
What are the reasons behind the design decisions you have made for the typeface?
After speaking to Sophie I had learnt she likes calligraphy, italics and lower case. I had also begun research into the types used by baking companies as Sophie's passion is baking. They reflected what she liked and so I had quite a good idea as to what direction my type would go in.
In what ways are the results effective?
I used Edwardian Script ITC as my starting point, in lower case. This type reflected Sophie well, it flowed - which I felt represented her chatty nature, it looked classic - which reflected her intelligence and her sweet nature was shown by the choice of lower case. My final piece was quite different to the type I started with and each change I'd made I had reasons for so I believe it was effective and made sense.
BRIEF: [What is the problem you intend to solve?]
ReplyDeleteTo produce a typeface that visually represents my partner.
-WHO NEEDS TO KNOW?
Initially Sophie, my partner then tutors and peers.
-WHAT DO THEY NEED TO KNOW?
They need to understand the chosen words I have attempted to communicate (effectively hopefully).
-WHY DO THEY NEED TO KNOW?
-WHAT WILL THEY RESPOND TO?
They will respond to a final poster produced in the effort to represent themselves.
-WHAT RESEARCH IS REQUIRED?
Primary - Talking to my partner.
Secondary - Type research.
